Got Coke? Will Slow-cook Some Pork
I’ve used beer and wine in my cooking before, but who knew I could use soda, as in coke? I can’t tell you exactly what the soda does to the dish but all I know is that the slow-cooked pork in this recipe turned out real tender, juicy, and a little sweet when done.
Try it sometime. Maybe you can even come up with your own conCoketion!
1 1/2 lb pork loin (boneless), cut into 1-inch pcs.
1 cup, coca-cola
1/4 cup Jajang (fermented soybean sauce)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 tbsp vinegar
4 pcs. green onions, chopped
3 cloves gaelic, peeled and crushed
1 inch ginger, peeled and sliced
2 tbsps Olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
In a medium bowl, combine all ingredients and mix well. Season pork with salt and pepper to taste. Heat Olive oil in a wok or pan over medium heat. Brown pork pieces on all sides. Remove from heat and transfer into a slow cooker pot. In the same wok, add in the liquid mixture and let simmer, stirring constantly. Pour liquid into pot and turn on slow cooker to low. Cook for 6-8 hours. Serve warm over steamed rice and vegetables.
